Director of Medical Laboratory Services
Hajia Folake Saidat Bello is a seasoned Medical Laboratory Scientist and healthcare administrator with over two and a half decades of progressive professional experience in Medical Laboratory Services, Leadership, Research, and Training. Born on 8 April 1974, she hails from Ikirun in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.
Hajia Bello undertook her one-year mandatory National Youth Service at the Federal Staff Clinic, Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, from 1999 to 2000. She joined the service of the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa State, in 2001. Her professional journey reflects a steady rise through the ranks to Director of Medical Laboratory Services, where she provides strategic leadership in managing daily laboratory operations, policy formulation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of laboratory services. In this role, she oversees operational planning, organizes and facilitates hospital linkage programmes, and ensures the alignment of laboratory services with institutional healthcare objectives.
She has served on various committees at FMC Keffi, including as Secretary of the Blood Transfusion Committee, a member of the COVID-19 Task Force, and a member of the Maternal Perinatal and Child Death Surveillance and Response committee.
Academically, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genomics at Nasarawa State University, Keffi. She holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Laboratory Science (Haematology) from Igbinedion University, Okada, and a Postgraduate Diploma in HIV Education and Management from the National Open University of Nigeria. Her foundational professional training was obtained at the School of Medical Laboratory Science, University College Hospital, Ibadan, where she qualified as an Associate of Medical Laboratory Science.
In addition to her formal degrees, she has earned international certifications in Leadership and Management in Health (2018), Clinical Management of HIV (2019), and Global Health Project Management (2019) from the University of Washington, further strengthening her expertise in health systems management and global health practice.
Hajia Bello is an Associate Member of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, a member of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Scientists Society of Nigeria, and a member of the Nigeria Cancer Society of Nigeria. She possesses strong communication and computing skills.
